DETERMINANTS THAT BUILD TRANSMISSION PREVENTION BEHAVIOR IN SURABAYA DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC USING IBM

Abstract


This study aims to obtain constructs of Covid-19 transmission prevention behavior scale which is developed from people with high mobility in Surabaya (young people and seasonal workers/commuters) using the Integrated Behavioral Model (IBM). The research is the first stage of three that is a qualitative exploration with semi-structured and open-ended questions to obtain indicators of physical/social distancing behavior. There are eight variables that build IBM construct towards three prevention behavior, those are social distancing from crowds, stay at home or reduce traveling, and wearing masks. There were 141 participants took their time to fulfill the open questions that were distributed through online survey. The result was used to arrange a quantitative survey to develop a health behavioral questionnaire based on IBM that could predict people’s behavior.
