Abstract

Currently the world is hit by the Covid-19 pandemic which causes the economic situation, business and social environment to change so quickly and it is difficult to predict. The government has implemented work from home and school from home policies to contain the spread of the virus. On the other hand, social restrictions pose new problems for working women who have school-age children. In addition to the demands of work, women are also responsible for guiding the teaching and learning process of children during school from home and other household tasks. These various role stress pressures trigger women to act cyber incivility to their co-workers and subordinates. Referring to these problems on the basis of affective events theory, this study aims to explain how the influence of role stressors on cyber incivility and how the influence of emotional intelligence as a stress coping strategy to minimize cyber incivility. The research method used in this research is quantitative with cross sectional study. The number of subjects 300 people was taken by using a non-list based random sampling survey technique. The criteria for the research subjects were female workers and active users of online media and having school-age children. This study uses 4 scales  namely, the cyber incivility scale from Lim and Teo (2009), the role stressor scale from  Peterson et al. (1995), the job-related affective well-being scale from Van Katwyk, Spector  and Fox (2000), and the emotional intelligence trait questionnaire short form (TEIQue SF) version 1.50 from Cooper and Petrides (2010). The data were then analyzed using the CB-SEM approach using AMOS version 22 tools. This research is expected to provide theoretical benefits for the development of the concept of cyber incivility in future research, and practically provide benefits as consideration for organizational management and leaders in the selection and job recruitment process as an effort to minimize the occurrence of cyber incivility in the work environment.
