MATERNAL CORONAVIRUS MORTALITY AND PREGNANCY OUTCOMES IN PRIMARY REFERRAL HOSPITAL OF COVID-19 IN SOUTH KALIMANTAN
Abstract
Maternal Mortality Rate is an important indicator in determining the health status of a country's population. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the number of MMR in South Kalimantan Province. The high death rate due to Covid-19 shows that South Kalimantan Province is still a priority for the central government in suppressing Covid-19. The effects of Covid-19 affect all sectors, especially the health sector. This study aimed to analyze maternal coronavirus mortality and pregnancy outcomes at the Ulin General Hospital as the Covid-19 Referral Center Hospital in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Results During the one year of the Covid 19 pandemic, there were 810 cases of mothers treated in the delivery room, 386 cases of suspected COVID-19, 136 confirmed cases of Covid-19, And 13 cases of maternal death with the Covid-19. Research showed there were 13 cases of maternal mortality, maternal at the age of 31-35 years 84.6% (n=9), gestational age 29-32 weeks 53.8% (n=7), referral cases as much as 100% (n=13), occupation as a housewife 61.5% (n=8). Comorbidities in pregnant women with COVID-19 included obesity 53.9% (n=8), hypertension in pregnancy 23.1% (n=6), without comorbidities 38.5 (n=5), post-cesarean section death 53.8 %(n=7) died while pregnant 23.1% (n=3), after spontaneous postpartum 15.4% (n=2), after vacuum extraction 7.7% (n=1). Cases of maternal death in the ICU-Covid 19 treatment using a ventilator. Outcome neonates with birth weight <2500 grams 46.2% (n=6), severe asphyxia 77% (n=10), neonates’ death in care 15.4% (n=2), and stillbirth 15.4% (n =2) neonates requiring care >15 days 53.8% (n=7). Neonates with positive RT-PCR were only 7.7 % (n=1). Maternal mortality and pregnancy outcomes have worsened during the pandemic. As An important aspect of the pregnancy outcome, maternity care is an urgent intervention during the pandemic and future health crises.
